When watering sage

Sage, how to cultivate
The cultivation of sage can take place starting from the cuttings of a mother plant taken preferably in spring or autumn. When the cutting has rooted in the jar, rooting hormones are not necessary, we can move to transplanting into a larger container or directly to a home. Sage will grow slowly in the first year, giving however very tasty leaves to be used in cooking recipes, collecting them to climb with the fingers, clearly taking care not to ruin the plant. After the first winter, better if indoors or with protection against extreme frosts, with the arrival of the following spring, the sage will produce a lot. Just one plant is needed for the consumption of a family. Sage is also very beautiful to see, especially when it blooms. Therefore garden accommodation is ideal.
The only fertilizer really necessary in the cultivation of sage can be in the soil preparation phase. Especially if the location chosen is not fertile, it may be essential to intervene with an organic or granular fertilizer, even inexpensive, easily found in gardening and agricultural stores or in supermarkets. Sage is well suited to different types of soil and has good resistance. It is not necessary and can be deleterious to exaggerate with fertilizing. During plant development we will simply have to water when the earth is completely dry. It should always be considered that sage is a plant that grows naturally, luxuriant and beautiful, even without human intervention. Sometimes it can happen that, even if we want to intervene for the good of our sage, we exaggerate with the fertilizer or with the irrigations and we also irreparably damage the plant.

The cultivation of sage should be done in a dry and sunny place, where the rays arrive for most of the day. Sage grows well in the hot climate, in full sun, both in terms of cultivation in the garden or in the garden and in the pots. The scent of sage is emphasized by the open air and the plants grown outside are certainly more tasty for culinary use. Sage also grows well on the terrace sill, as long as it can receive natural radiation for a good part of the day. It does not fear the heat and bears periods of drought, so it can be left to develop in our garden without particular interventions. In the first year of life it is preferable to protect the plant from a harsh winter with intense frosts. In this case we will place it indoors or in any case cover the base with the barks, the pieces of wood, the straw. Root rot and parasites can attack the sage. In this case we will evaluate the causes trying to avoid using fungicides.
