We know the bamboo plant
The bamboo plant is known for its ability to grow and mature in less time than other plants. It reaches its maximum height after about three months and the maximum maturity in two years. They are plants that belong to the areas of the Far East, China and Japan, but have been found with plantations in Africa and America. They are evergreen plants and, given the number of species, can have crops of different sizes. The roots are rhizomatous and the plant species are classified according to growth. The species that has a very high growth, also has a very invasive rhizomatous apparatus. The stem is characterized by knots from which the leaves develop. Flowers are difficult to find when it comes to non-spontaneous crops, but in general they bloom at the same time all over the world!
Plant bamboo in the garden
Bamboos have many species and new types appear on the market every year. In general they need high temperatures, but the new species also allow cultivation in less hot environments and outside, consequently also in Italy. It may happen that in particularly cold environments there is the total loss of the green of the plant, it is not a problem, because the roots do not lose their fiber, consequently, the shrub, with the arrival of the first warm, will return to bloom. The shrub does not like very sunny and shady environments, but wants environments full of light that allow the sun to dry the soil well, so as to prevent the rhizome from being attacked by mold. time will colonize all the available land: calculate the spaces!
Planting bamboo at home
Some types can grow in pots at home. Having little space available, it is preferable to choose a species that does not have an exaggerated growth, otherwise the rhizome will not have enough space and will quickly deteriorate. The two main factors to keep under control when choosing to plant bamboo, is that it needs a humidity that never falls below 70%. In case of lack, it can be compensated with the right humidification of the soil. You should not water the plant, but irrigate it with a fine spray of water that simulates humidity. It is important that the vase that will house the seedling is well ventilated, it will be enough to place, in the bed of a vase equipped with holes for drainage, a layer of stones covered with gardening felt that does not let the earth pass through the interstices of the stones. Thus excess water will drain and the rhizome will remain moist but not wet.
Bamboo plant: The thousand uses of bamboo
The particularity of bamboo is that it is very versatile. Its thousands of uses are known and range across all fields, from cuisine to architecture, from fashion to locomotion. In cosmetics it is used to combat skin dryness, but its use also reaches the world of fashion. The need for eco-materials has prompted designers to use the fiber collected from the pulp of the bush as a "fabric" to create wonderful clothing. A fabric that, in addition to being completely natural, and very resistant, as well as antibacterial, in fact, evaporates sweat in no time giving freshness. In the kitchen the sprouts are the most known part of the oriental world. Some studies report that consuming plant sprouts would decrease the chances of having cancer.
